Compton Children's Academy - Programs

Infant Program
4 Weeks to 16 Months

At Compton Children’s Academy, we understand that the infant stage of your child’s life is one of the most crucial developmental stages. During this time, your child begins learning language skills, fine and gross motor skills, and their relationship to play. We know that your little one is developing at a rapid rate and our program is specifically designed to meet their needs.

We ensure your child receives the attention they deserve by providing each child with individual care. CCA assigns each child a continuity of care group allowing them to be catered by a senior teacher who will become familiar and tailor to their specific needs. Their teacher will provide you with a daily lesson plan so you can reinforce what they learn in the classroom at home. Your child will be able to learn closely with the other children assigned to the same teacher as well as the other children in the class, providing plenty of opportunity to develop social skills.

Our teachers in our infant program are not only skilled in providing what your child needs on an educational level, but also on an emotional level. Instead of being placed inside bouncers or swings, infants are given constant attention from teachers who are on the floor with them, supplying them with care and affection for their continual growth. This helps the infants to freely access the world around them while building their strength and large motor skills more quickly in a safe and creative environment.

Compton Children’s Academy recognizes that every child learns and develops at their own pace and in their own unique way. Our highly-trained teachers create lesson plans that are age and developmentally appropriate. The lesson plans are individualized to ensure your child receives the greatest results possible from our program. These plans help guide them through this early developmental stage by providing them with activities in art, language, music and movement..

Creativity and self expression are an essential element in the learning process. You can rest assured that your child will be allowed to develop their decision-making skills on a daily basis while at our center. We do this by allowing each of our infants to discover new textures and explore art freely while developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

To help in your child’s language development, CCA starts by teaching infants basic sounds. These will become the main building blocks to further develop their language skills in the future. Music is a part of everyday through singing with the children and playing instruments. Music further helps the children grow social skills, creativity, and brain functioning.

Enrichment programs offered include Baby Fitness and Introduction to Basic Sign Language. Baby Fitness involves moving your child’s feet, rolling over, and baby yoga to increase their flexibility and build strength. Through teaching Basic Sign Language, you can expect your child to learn how to sign for ‘more’, ‘please’, ‘thank you’, and ‘food’. To continue the learning process we reinforce what your child is learning at CCA by sending home a weekly lesson plan that includes pictures of the signs your child is learning to continue the learning process at home.
